THE SIX MAIN NON WESTERN WORLD CULTURES

The cultures we study over a three year period are not from Europe or white, yet many of the ancestors of people in our classrooms come from the nations in these six main culture groups. We study two a year to increase our knowledge of the world and the people who live in it, and how they live.

The first year we study the ASIAN/MIDDLE EASTERN cultures, these two are what I call the Thinkers Artists. Everything in their artworks are carefully placed, balanced, and thought out.

The second year we study the AFRICAN/NATIVE AMERICAN cultures, these two are what I call the Spiritual Artists. Everything in their artworks is a powerful symbol or the art has great spiritual power.

Finally the third year we study the ISLAND/HISPANIC cultures, these two are what I call the Emotional Artists. Just a quick glance at their artwork and you can see it is just fun, with great patterns and colors. It is right from the heart.

By the time you leave my schools you will have each of these groups twice....and you will have a better idea of who they are, what they look like, where they live in the world, and how they live!
